到達目標 Target to be Reached
The study of graphic fiction has become one of the major topics in studying popular culture as a whole, while providing a key to understanding its respective cultural background. This is especially true for the American comic book as central part of American popular culture. By studying the American comic book as a whole this class wants to examine their cultural significance while providing knowledge about the different periods and genres of the comic book in their respective backgrounds, furthering the understanding of American popular culture.

授業内容 Course Content
This course aims at providing an overview of American comics from its beginning in the 1930s until the 1990s, examining the first three major periods of the genre: The golden age, the silver age and the bronze age.
